What’s Up Miami?: New Delhi Artist Seema Kohli Brings Spirituality to Another Dimension


Indian artist Seema Kohli, is a philosopher from the University of Delhi with a Diploma in Applied Arts from the South Delhi Polytechnic in New Delhi.
Born into a Hindu home, Kohli had a very secular upbringing having been surrounded by Muslim friends, Sikhs and Catholics. Taught by her father who had a Sikh guru, she learned about the openness of life and acceptance of cultures which eventually shaped her as a spiritual acclaimed multifaceted artist.

In 2009, Kohli received the prestigious Gold Award at the Florence Biennale for her installation “Swayamsiddha-Myth” or “ Mind and Movement.” She has also received the “Young FICCI Ladies Organization Women Achiever’s Award” and the Lalit Kala National Award for Women in 2008, one of the highest awards an artist can receive in India.
